Arkady Pugachevsky is a mature master in the best period of his way with completely formed originality not only in technique and personal artistic language but also in all creative aspect.
His engravings are distinguished mainly by the novelty effect of the most unforeseen, unforeseeable turnings of the creative key, refined riches of the engraving technique in combination with almost fabulous, unreal romanticism.
He does not operate with large planes, setting aside the wide generalized gestures and lines — his manner is thin and elegant, his blade is made of burnt Damask steel — flexible and resilient.
Creative work of Arkady Pugachevsky is a genuine tour de force even in its smallest forms (exlibris, per felice etc.) — it is fully balanced, in spite of some theatricality, slightly dramatized from time to time, much more often — comic, travesty, not without a friendly humour, occasionally with the playful graceful elements of easy friendly bantering.
